DISPOSALS

There are so many options: paper, plastic, trash… Let’s make this easy:

  • Everyday trash

There is a compactor chute on each floor (except for the terrace level (TL) in StuyTown and the lower level (LL) in Peter Cooper Village). Please do not dispose of lit cigarettes, it’s a fire hazard.

  • Recycling and Compost

Bins are located on the (LL) or (TL) of your building.

    Green = Paper

    Blue = Glass, plastic, aluminum

Brown = Compost (food scraps, food soiled paper & plants)

  • The Big Stuff

Bulk items should be placed at designated locations on the loop roads.  Need a hand with bulk removal? Just give us a text or call at 212.420.5000 (option 1) and we’ll get you scheduled.

  • Laundry

    • All buildings are equipped with coin-less laundry facilities located on TL or LL of your building, open 7 days a week. Should you have any issues there is someone on site 7 days a week; chat with us here (lower right side of your screen) or call 212.420.5000. Learn more about Laundry Basics here.

  • Cleaning

  • Shades

    • You can absolutely install custom shades, we just ask that you install brackets to the side and front of the steel casement frame that surround the window and use a #6 sheet metal screw.

  • Storage

    • Keep your apartment clutter free with access to storage units conveniently located in your building. Contact us for more information.

  • Packages

    • Help Keep Your Lobby Clear of Packages
Retrieve your packages from the lobby as soon as you receive the notification. We're also asking all delivery people to deliver to apartments directly.

Don't stress about being home to sign for your packages. Take advantage of Oval Services package service, located at 17A Stuyvesant Oval.

  • Fire Safety Awareness

    • Fire safety and prevention are very important. Our buildings are fireproof, but everyone should still practice fire safety - see here and here for some great tips from the FDNY. Make a plan with your family today to make us all fire safe.

  • Quiet Hours

The good neighbors around you keep Quiet Hours of:

    Weekdays (ending Friday morning):
    11pm – 7am

    Weekends (beginning Friday night):
    Midnight – 9am

  • Carpets

To be a good neighbor, we ask that you cover 80% of your exposed floor (excluding kitchen and bathroom).

  • Community Rules

We all want to be good neighbors, so let’s get down to business. Here are the guidelines we all agree to when signing our lease.

  • Don't Feed the Birds (and Other Wildlife)

    • Lately, Resident Relations has been receiving increasing reports of residents throwing birdseed and nuts into the landscaping for squirrels, pigeons, and other animals. Please refrain from doing so - it causes a mess on the grounds (which can attract rodents) and can be a danger to your neighbors with nut allergies. Please be a good neighbor and don't feed the wildlife.

Learn more from the Humane Society on why to not feed the wildlife.

  • Want to Volunteer for Team Good Neighbor?

    • Looking to help others? Team Good Neighbor is mobilizing to help at-risk seniors, residents facing financial difficulties, and others in our community who need help.

Sign up here and look out for emails with information on how you can help for a few hours at a time, all while maintaining safety protocols to protect yourself and others. Can't make it to our volunteer events or change your mind later? No problem, the choice is always yours.

  • Airbnb & Illegal Short-Term Rentals

    • In the past, a number of residents at PCVST were posting ads on various web sites, such as Airbnb, and charging hefty fees for these illegal rentals.

StuyTown Property Services (SPS) would like to make it clear that any hotel activity is illegal, a violation of your lease, and threatens the safety and well-being of your neighbors. It may also be considered rent gouging.

New York law is explicit that our apartments are for use as permanent, long-term homes only. They are not to be used as hotels or short-term rentals. Hotel use is a significant lease violation and subjects the resident to harsh fines from the City of New York. Because of the importance of this issue, if SPS finds a resident who is in violation, we will quickly move to bring legal action. Several tenants have already had their leases terminated because of their attempts at hotel use.

Further, by bringing in unknown visitors for short-term use, these residents are threatening the safety and well-being of every resident in our community. Safety is consistently cited by residents as a major reason they enjoy living in our community. Hotel use brings in unknown people that have not been screened and approved for residency at StuyTown. As a result, it has the potential to threaten the sense of safety and security that we all enjoy so much.

In short, renting out your home as a hotel puts your neighbors at risk, hurts our community and puts your own lease in jeopardy. Just don’t do it.
